AVIIA is delighted to be supporting St Mary’s Kenmure in the recruitment of new Trustees to its Board.

St Mary’s Kenmure provides secure care and education for young people with complex needs. Bringing together care, education and specialist support, the charity offers a safe and nurturing environment where young people can build confidence, develop positive relationships and work towards a better future.

As a Trustee, you will help guide the organisation’s strategic direction, providing oversight, support and constructive challenge. Working alongside fellow Trustees and the senior leadership team, you will help ensure that young people’s rights, safety, wellbeing and aspirations remain at the heart of decision-making.

Who are we looking for?

We are keen to hear from people who share a commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people and can bring sound judgement, fresh perspectives and a collaborative approach.

Skills or experience in one or more of the following areas would be particularly welcome:

• Finance and financial oversight. 
• Government and public-sector relationships at local or national level. 
• Governance and organisational leadership. 
• Social care, education and safeguarding. 
• Care service regulation. 
• Human resources and people management. 
• Property and estates. 

Relevant lived experience is also valued. You do not need previous Board experience - a willingness to learn, contribute and champion the organisation’s purpose is essential.

The commitment

The role requires approximately one day per month, including meeting preparation, Board meetings, usually held face to face, and committee meetings, usually held remotely. Trustees will also visit the service, meet young people and occasionally attend events or additional activities. Initial 3 year term, with option to extend by mutual agreement.

Preferred candidates will require approval from the Archbishop of Glasgow before appointment is confirmed. Appointments are also subject to the appropriate disclosure and/or PVG checks applicable to the role. ‍
